"3rd" Basel Beer - Basler Bier

I have finally found and tried the new "Basel" beer from local organic farmer Daniel Graber. Please note I intended to use the "" around the word Basel, as this new beer is promoted to Basel, by a Basler, it is in fact brewed by the Brauerei Locher in Kanton Appenzeller.

In the pre-launch press the beer was quoted to be the 3rd Basel beer (after Ueli and Unser) missing out the what should be the 3rd beer or brewery: Käppelijoch.

The company has the slogan "Basler sy em beer" which loosely translates to the Basler golden brew. The owners inspiration for the beer was to create a bright, clear organic beer from Basel using local ingredients. Unable to find a partner with one of the existing local breweries, a brewing partner was found outside the kanton.

Currently to be found bottled at Mitte, Lällekönig and the Hilton Hotel.

On to the beer - tasting notes.
Pale Lager
5.2%
Currently available in 3dl bottles
A flat light golden coloured lager, Small Head. No noticeable aroma. Dry non descriptive taste. Lingering bitterness.

Thought it was about time to start

Ok, here we go. I thought it was about time I started this site. Why? Mainly for me as a preview and test-bed for the upcoming book. Think of this (currently) as the status update or "Seeing if it is possible to publish a book before my Christmas deadline" guide.

So some of this stuff maybe about the beer, some about the breweries (And I have to say, for me, currently the most interesting part of this all) and some about the book.

The current status of the book is complicated - I have bits & bobs in various places (google docs, my photo library, a small mysql database even) and will try and use this site to distill some of this chaos into a publishable form - so don't be surprised if I post a "review" that I may have actually written over a year ago :-)
